The original two piece mainsprings have broken in places and the leather piston washer is in lumps in the chamber, with a mashed retaining screw, but other than that, with those bits replaced and a relube it will hopefully be as good as new. Though it is a pitted brown colour all over, the original screws and bolts have all come undone with a little heat and persuasion, bar the rear sight which I haven't had the courage to attempt yet. These precision-made guns were so successful that BSA moved into the modestly priced, good quality sporting arms market.
